Jody Shenkarek and Hot Kindlin’ are a band of lifelong friends and some of Edmonton’s hottest players.  From early days singing in the closet of her bedroom  to center stage with a band of dedicated musicians. The decades long journey has landed Jody right where she needs to be. And Hot Kindlin’ can stoke a fire. 

Their soon-to-be released album called Change the Rules, recorded live is much anticipated. These 7 songs distill Shenkarek’s constant themes of love, loss, and life into three chord philosophy lessons. Comparisons don’t really work with the Edmonton-based singer-songwriter, but you could easily file this record next to Lucinda Williams, Neil Young, Patti Smith.   

Make sure to catch her in any formation you can, whether playing solo with her acoustic, as a duo with  Gavin Dunn(Longtime Companion) or her duo with pedal steel guitarist Bob Blair (No More Tears), or a trio with Dunn and Blair (Strings of Destiny). Finally there’s Hot Kindlin’ itself, where her songs have been polished to a burnished warmth by  Gavin Dunn on electric guitar Bob Blair on pedal steel, Brian Golightly on drums and Paul Soloudre on bass guitar.
